Ernest Conyers Barker was born in Toronto. He first studied art at Central Technical School under L.A.C. Panton, Bobs Cogill Haworth, Peter Haworth and others from 1923-1927. He also studied at the Ontario College of Art at night. He was elected a member of the Royal Canadian Academy, the Ontario Society of Artists and the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour. He exhibited regularly at the society shows as well as solo shows at the Simcoe County Museum (1975, 1976), the Eaton's Art Gallery (1985), the Elliott Museum in Florida and others.
